Music in May

May’s a good month to get out and about on the Sunshine Coast because the weather’s getting cooler and drier and there’s lots going on.

The Timewarp Festival May 6

This one-day festival is all about Kustom Kulture with over 100 vintage cars and bikes, pin-up girls and 35 stalls selling all manner of goods. There’s also nine bands to watch; call 54450933 for tickets or more information on this family-friendly event at Rick’s Garage in Palmwoods.

The Maleny Wood Expo: From Seed to Fine Furniture – May 5 to May 7

The Maleny Wood Expo is one of the Sunshine Coast’s biggest events and this is its 22nd year. This family-oriented three-day festival aims to promote sustainability and teaches young and old about how we use wood and why we need to look after our trees. When you’ve had enough of trees you can grab some good food and listen to the bands. Call 54943151 for more information.

Mother’s Day at Australia Zoo – May 13

Your mum won’t be able to resist this special event! On arrival at the zoo she’ll get some chocolates, then morning tea, served to her by the stars of the Australian Firefighters Calendar. As if that wasn’t enough, she can pet some more cute critters before entering a prize draw for a $1,200 spa package from Stephanie’s Ocean Spa. Call 54362000 to find out more.

Noosa Food and Wine Festival – May 17 to May 20

Noosa is one of Australia’s premier food destinations and so this four-day event brings visitors the chance to try out new foods in some tipis on Noosa’s Main Beach, as well as Hinterland Food Trails and loads of smaller (but just as fun) happenings in and around the town. Email hello@noosafoodandwine.com.au to find out more.

The Big Pineapple Music Festival – May 26

Head to Woombye into a huge party with all the bands you could ever want to see, including Violent Soho, Cog, Illy, Carmoflage Rose and dozens more. Call 54423102 for more details.
